Dan, I don't think they were done ripening - plus I didn't want to wade through the swamp. However, there is a huge clump of them (approximately 50x80 yards) that I bet the deer count on in winter.
This Short-Tailed Hawk (Dark Morph) perched itself on one of my coconut trees right above where my chickens hang out. The chickens freaked out But it was all for nothing. My chickens are bigger than this guy so he posed no threat. Plus he had a sparrow? in his talons that he then proceeded to pluck and eat while I watched. I took hundreds of pictures but i'm not going to flood the forums. Here my favorites.

No they didn't look ripened yet but no swamp! Nasty things in swamp!

Two of our White Tailed Deer bucks rolled though today. One has had a rope wrapped up in his antlers for a couple of weeks, and don't worry, they were able to untangle themselves and it hasn't restricted his mobility.
