Hey all! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time member, don't post much except for B&S, hung out mostly on POTN Canon forums when I shot Canon(I know, I know).
So I went Nikon Z mirrorless, have the adapter, but now I want the native S lenses. Problem is, it looks like my F mount Nikon lenses aren't worth S I see some of the stuff I have going for...1/3-1/2 of retail. The online sites like Adorama and MBP offer trade-ins. Is it worth that vs using the b&s forum? It's funny as you grow older, it REALLY starts to suck to pull everything out and take pictures and upload and deal with tire-kickers.
Keep the lenses that you cannot find in Z mount yet. Some F-mount lenses may never be replaced in Z mount.
Now that's easy for me to say; have not sold anything in the past 12 years.

Looking for 70-200 and wide angle zoom so easy stuff that is already replaced and not worth a damn... part of me thinks I shoulda kept the D750...
Years ago a priest at mass told us a story about his father and his stuff crammed in his home. He looks at his dad and says, you do know there are no trailer hitches on a hearse, and burial clothing has no pockets.
Not unless you have lens that's not going to work so well adapted on Z, like a shaft drive AF or AF-D. The only one I might have kept from that era is the D850 with grip, but it was ahead of its time.
Well, it would make sense if you are thinking about replacing them with Z mount - you want to sell em. If I were you, I would bite the bullet and just trade them in through bh (or which ever store you are buying the new gear with.) It might even get you some rep with the salesmen. Another idea is to buy Used Z lenses from them

I’d you are trading to a reseller, you are getting below market value and giving up money for convenience. You can always get a quote, list the stuff here for 10% over MBP’s offer. If someone buys it, you come out ahead and a community member gets a good deal too.
Yeah, it just depends what the difference in price is worth to you. Time is the main thing I don’t have, so I’d be very unlikely to list here instead of sale/trade to BH, KEH, or MBP.

Likewise, these are the lenses that still command some kind of price on the second hand market.
One thing to factor in your costs of selling to a place like MPB vs here is things like PayPal fees, shipping cost, including insurance.
I now sell the majority of my gear to a local used camera store, who generally gives me prices around what MPB does, but often a few percent higher. Doing the math, with the other costs taken up, I end up only losing maybe 5% of the value doing that vs selling here.
Occasionally there are exceptions, (my X100VI they didn’t want to buy at market value because they didn’t feel right selling a used one for more than new, so I sold that here).
I sell most of my used stuff here, but a few months ago, I had two Pentax lenses that just didn't get any interest. B&H gave me what I thought was a fair price after I shot a couple months listing them on FM. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get what you can.
MBP, KEH, and the like typically offer 30-35% of what they will sell the items for, and frequently pay less than they quoted, but they do save you the hassle of dealing with the tire kickers.
I've been acquiring f-mount lenses since 1975, so have quite a few. They are like old friends and I have no interest in "bargin basement price" selling them off.. Since I don't much care for lens mount adapters, I keep a couple of DSLRs so I can continue to use them. I do have the Z8 and 50 f1.8, 24-120 f4, and 135 f1.8 Plena z-mount lenses. That satisfies my Nikon mirrorless needs.

It depends on how big of a hurry you are in. If say MPB or KEH or another trader has exactly what you want and you are OK with what they are offering then go for it and forgo waiting around to sell. If you are not in any hurry, you will probably be able to get more for your gear by selling them individually on the market place.
