p.1 #1 · Where to sell old collectible film cameras, Nikon SPs, Leica, Contax, etc.
I have some cameras I collected over the years as well as newer film cameras and was wondering where the best forums to sell these cameras as I am getting old and my heirs have no interest in them. As the subject says, Nikon SP bodies and lenses, Leica’s from IIc’s to M3s with a variety of lenses, Canon 7s with lenses, Contax III A with lenses (mostly Nikon lenses made for Contax) etc. as well as newer things like Contax G2 and lenses etc. I don’t see many collectibles listed here on FM and not sure where they would be listed to the correct market. Thanks for any suggestions.

Usually have to list them multiple places.
(no certain order).
1. Facebook Marketplaces (FM)
2. Fred Miranda (FM)
3. Check for local photography clubs
4. KEH/MPB (you won't get much)
5. Ebay, get more but pain to deal with shipping and fees are high.
If you don't need the money maybe think of donating to a local school/college?

I have given some of the more modern film cameras to the local junior college, but I would like someone who collects and appreciates the old rangefinder cameras and mechanically beautifully made cameras to enjoy and use if they want. Maybe it is just me but the old Leica’s, Nikons and Canons are incredibly constructed cameras that still take wonderful pictures on film. I suppose there is much less interest these days of cell phone photos but there used to be some classified sites that specialized in the old collectibles and I don’t remember what they are or if they still exist. Thanks for your suggestions though.

There is a big difference between 'collectible' and just old cameras. Not even a camera store would be interested in buying most the cameras you listed, or even taking them as trade-ins.
You don't see many 'collectibles' listed here because most people don't want them. A fact.

Much of your gear is very collectible, and some pieces are probably quite valuable ($1000+). I just did a quick survey on eBay (best place to research current asking and selling prices)... your Nikon SP could easily be worth more than a thousand bucks (depending on condition, of course).
I have the Canon 7, with S lenses 35/2, 50/1.4 II, and 100/3.5 III, plus Voigtlanders 15/4.5 and 25/4 MC. In decent and better condition, they are very collectible. Current market value for my Canon S kit on eBay, is $1700 US. Your kit could easily be worth more - a bit of research will let you know.
The Leica M3s in decent condition is selling for $1000 US and ++. While the Contax III A with a lens looks like from $200 to $400. OTOH, a near-mint Contax G2 with a matching lens, is going for $2000+.

Check eBay 'Sold' listings for the most accurate estimate of what your gear is worth.
With the end of the de minimis exemption, a lot of people in the US will no longer be shopping the Japan and European used film camera market on eBay, which might help your stuff sell if you list it there.
Selling to KEH or any other re-seller, you will get around half of retail. Might be worth it to you if you want less hassle or quicker sale.
Your profile indicates you live in the Pacific NW, film is still relatively popular around here. Check film centric brick and mortar shops to see if they are buying or do consignment (Blue Moon Camera in Portland for example). Our local film shop here in Eugene (Dot Dotson) buys and sells film cameras.

Thanks for all the valuable input. Shows me there is still a cadre of people still interested in the old mechanical, beautifully made cameras, especially rangefinders and some of the lenses are still stellar as I have shot many of them on adaptors for the Sony A7…. cameras. I will take a good luck at the stash and begin the process.
