p.1 #1 · Small Rig Orange battery for Z8?

Looking at extra batteries for a new to me Z8 body.

Have older aftermarket batteries for older bodies & most have worked out well.

Anyone with experience using these? Do they actually perform as well or better than Factory batteries? Any downside using them?

Changing in the field & dropping a battery in grass - Orange might show up a bit better.(Yes, has happened more than a few times)

I can get three of these for the price of two Factory batteries - but not worth it if they don't do the job.

I have not used that particular battery. I have used the Smallrig EN-EL 25 batteries for the Zfc/Z30, and the Smallrig LP-E6N batteries for Canon. I have been well pleased with them and had no problems with them. They seem to charge just fine and in a timely manner, they did not cause any issues with my cameras when in use. I thought the USB charging cord was very convenient and made charging the batteries a breeze, especially when on the go.

I don't know about the Z8. I was disappointed that the BMS in the Canon USB-C Smallrig (2024) was worse than the one in the Canon OEM battery. The internal resistance was higher and the power level was not so accurate. It may or may not matter depending on the power drain from the camera.
The USB-C charging is slower than an OEM charger, but not bad and certainly convenient.
The main issue I find with 3rd party batteries is that cameras change firmware and then they complain about the earlier geriatric batteries. It's not worth the haslle to save a few bucks for the newest cameras. Perhaps for an old camera with lesser power needs I'd be more inclined.

I've used them, as many others here have without hiccup. No downside that I know of, but nice that it can be charged with USB-C while you Nikon batt charges in the MH-25a. They were on sale recently, for $31 a piece, and worked with the Z6 III as well. From what I read, it supports fast charging. Capacity is 2400mAh vs Nikon's 2280mAh. I haven't tested to see if it lasts longer based on mAh, but, I'd trust Nikon's rating vs Smallrig. What're the odds its exactly 2400mAh...? Nikon's 2280mAh seems more of a legit number, and what they averaged by testing.

I thought the USB-C powered MH-34 replaced the MH-25A.

One of the ironic issues is that the EN-EL15c at $60 is the lowest priced of the major 16W camera batteries. Canon is still $80, Sony has increased to $86, and Fuji increased to $100.
I would buy a handful of the original Nikons now and be done with it for a while.

I've got the K&F Concepts version. No experience with the Z8, but it works perfectly in both the Z5II and OG Z7

I prefer them to the Nikon originals for the ability to USB-C charge in the field without additional hardware.

ENEL15C from Nikon run $81.95, sucks because they used to be $59.95 iirc

I've been using the SmallRig batteries without issue. The built-in USB-C is handy...

It was $60 on Sept, 15th when I posted, so it just went up.

I bought the orange batteries as the USB-C charging is very convenient as compared to charging with the Nikon or other battery chargers. The orange color will make it easy to dedicate their use to the new ZR camera when it arrives.

It works in a Z6iii so it should work. Also The Vitrox "White" and KF Concept "Grey" should be the same exact battery.

The only thing they don't work on are the older DSLR bodies if you connect a grip to them. So if you have Older equipment please note this issue if sharing batteries
