I have the original Eizo fluid (smells like petroleum thinner) and also use some of the weaker cleaning fluids. You don't want any solutions with more than a trace of alcohol or ammonia. Use good quality microfibre cloths.
I turn the power off to make sure that the ColorEgg display calibrator arm does not engage at the worst time.
