The Samyang 35mm f/1.8 is the nicest alternative I've found to the Sony 40mm. Optically, the Samyang is excellent. There is some chromatic aberration wide open but it mostly disappears if you just stop down to f/2. It is weather sealed too which is a plus compared to the Sigma I-series. I'm opting to stick with the Sony 40mm only because it is the smallest with the hood on. The Samyang uses a typical petal hood which is quite long compared to the Sony.

I do like the RX1RIII and I would like it for my purposes, except that the absence of IBIS is a significant negative for me given the way I like to shoot. As @Nifty Fifty@ notes, I do often shoot in limited light.

Low light the IBIS not helps if you intend to avoid subject motion blur, I assumed you want brighter lens for that purpose.

I would like both. IBIS helps a lot with dimly lit scenes and often subjects are still enough for 1/5th of a second. Sometimes IBIS allows one to use a smaller aperture for greater dof.
