Sigma Debuts Three New
Full-Frame Lenses for Sony and L-Mount
Speaking of Art lenses, Sigma is also announcing two new Art lenses for full-frame Sony E and L-Mount cameras, the 35mm f/1.2 DG II Art and the 135mm f/1.4 DG Art, along with the 20-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DG Contemporary lens. The trio signals Sigma's continued dedication to optical innovation for photo-first shooters, with the primes delivering professional-quality portraiture and the new zoom bringing unprecedented versatility to travel and everyday photography.
The Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG II Art Lens has my interest.

I'm not as hot on the ETZ adapter as many, but ordered this 135mm right away for my Z8. Looks like a killer lens with its only weakness being distortion. The price is lower than I was expecting, too. Kudos to Sigma who seems to be leading the way on lens design lately.

That 135 is going to be popular I think, the MFD sucks though. 110cm on the Sigma vs 70cm for the Sony 135GM. Perhaps not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I'm always trying to get closer to things.
The MSRP is better than the Sony, which is nice, although the Sony seems to be going for under $1k used lately. I'll be curious how the AF speed is on the Sigma since I've got running kids to consider.

Depends how you look at it - one could say the two ultrafast lenses are small for what they deliver.
The 135 fascinates me, and a younger me would buy it. Older me wants the 35 - I'll start saving my pennies
I'm sure there will be a sizable market for each of these lenses. But they don't interest me. I'm sure the 2 primes will have beautiful rendering, which I prize. But I would not wish to carry them for travel or in documentary settings or to put them into people's faces in non-studio or non-posed situations. And the zoom, I think, goes to f5.6 by 50mm, so it would be unusable for shooting in any type of variable light.

I watched Manny's review on the 135, which he did head to head with the Sony 135. The bokeh differences are completely negligible in real world use...clients will never care and I bet the photogs rarely will. My thought is that if you already own one of the excellent fast 135 options, the Sigma isn't really an "upgrade". If you DON'T already, then I'd give it a look first.
People are already forgetting about the Viltrox LAB at half the price (though that lens has its own issues)

Both lenses look great. I do wish they had the focus lock option on the 35mm and 135mm lenses for astro. Being able to flip a switch and not have to worry about bumping the focus ring when recomposing photos is much more handy for astro than I was expecting.
