Domke make many of their bags in a choice of cotton canvas or a lined, lightweight-but-strong ballistic fabric. The ballistic fabric would not produce any lint. I am looking at using the Domle F-3X in the ballistic version to carry two A7CR bodies with lenses mounted. There would still be room for two more lenses and lots of small stuff. But somehow, the bag is not that big.

A quick look at the B&H spec sheet puts the F3X only about an inch bigger in each dimension than the F6 I own and love. So, in the name of science, a side by side with the F803. The F6 is much shorter but also much fatter, but is still small and inconspicuous in an absolute sense. I have shown it also with an A7RII and 85/1.4 as well as a D4 with 50mm. I do not think the A7CR is D4 sized, so lots of room for two

Thank you! I will take a serious look at the F6. Slightly smaller than the F-3X would be nice if everything would fit.

Do you find the double clips a nuisance or good to have?

Good question - I'm generally fine with the double clips, but will admit I frequently keep one undone, I can still reach a camera in the bag with one clip done up, and it's still pretty secure with one clip open.

The style of clips are not as easy or nice as the ones on my Ona Brixton, but the clips on the Brixton make noise when you walk with them undone, whereas on the F6 they don't.

So, overall, the clips aren't perfect, but I don't think about them a ton so they work well enough and aren't really a nuisance.

I think it's very personal. The top lids of this world can be opened in different directions, with one or two straps with clips of some sorts or by opening a zipper, or...

I like my bags to be zipper free, velcro free and with one single reliable locking point only. Like the F803 for example. The clip isn't perfect but it works well enough. (I haven't seen a to me "perfect" clip yet.) With some practice you learn not to smash i into the camera screen...

I have a Domke F-2 (nice blue canvas) which i should sell. I think i have owned it like ten years or so and I think I've used it twice. Both times I was annoyed by the two locking straps. It may suit many other though and I really should sell the bag, or perhaps give it away.

That is a nice looking bag. It may be a bit shallow in width for the two cameras? Do you know the Domke F-3X?

Haven’t used any other Domke bags and I prefer the messenger style over the fatter reporter style bags because it sits closer to your body. I hate bumping others with my bag when wading through crowds and such. When traveling I carry two bodies with small f/4 zooms attached and sometimes another lens in the middle of the bag when it’s set for three spaces. Most of the time when walking I have a camera around my neck on a peak design strap and I just swap bodies as needed. I only have the bag fully loaded when I’m on a bus or train. If you’re going to do a lot of walking the Domke postal pad is a great addition. If you can’t try locally, just order a few from B&H and return what doesn’t work. Good luck.

I am looking for the smallest, lightest bag that would carry and give quick, easy access to two A7CR bodies, each with a Sigma i Series or a Sony 16-25 or 25-50 zoom attached. These are all pretty small lenses.

I don't need or want much in the way of external padding, but there should be good internal separation to keep the bodies from contacting or rubbing against each other in the bag. Not banging when the bag is put down is nice.

Easy, quick access (without the cameras falling out) is important, so backpacks are out. Shoulder bags are probably best

Make sure you share with us what you choose. You described almost exactly what I’ve been looking for.

I haven’t tried my ThinkTANK Retrospective 10 or 7 version 1’s yet since I have another kit in it right now but will swap around some things to give those bags a try. Currently using a Shimoda Urban Explorer 25L for my travel kit that has an A7CR and A7CII in it but that backpack has a 24-50/2.8 G and 70-200/4 Macro G II mounted to the bodies and then a 16-25/2.8 G, a Zeiss Batis 40/2 CF an Batis 85/1.8 in it as well. This is my travel bag but bigger and definitely heavier than I want. So a total of 5 full frame lenses. While the Zeiss lenses are bigger they are actually lighter or as light as the Sigma I-Series DG DN f/2 lenses I also own and the Sony and Zeiss all share 67mm filter size which way currently travel with those.

I have enough bags where I pick parts of them, trying to create the perfect Frankenstein bag. I have come to conclusion I like tiny bags that I can wear as a backpack and spin around easy. Nothing though ever feels right unless I'm traveling then bags make great sense. A neck strap with a small camera and a small lens in my back pocket is where I am happy. Bags are burdensome no matter the style.
