Wow! This is really a beautiful image, Bob. Your composition emphasizes the feeling of isolation and the toning is perfect. The burn in the upper right and left corners is just right for holding the viewer's eye on the shack. The dead trees in front of the shack are like exclamation marks. Frame it and hang it.

Brent,
Thank you for the kind words and insight as to why it works for you.

Very nice shot. Toning is meh to me, but I'm not everyone, or anyone really.
Thank you and I'll add that most important, you are you and all that goes with that.
Toning - yeah, not for everyone including myself. Sometimes it adds, other times not. Sometimes I get carried away....
I like to experiment with more analog, or organic, looks. Over the years I've concluded that aesthetic is unappealing to many viewers. Likewise, to me the "uber-sharp" look and IR images have little to offer, but I'll look, or not, and we'll all continue to get along. Who am I to judge?
Early in my FM years, I spent most, nearly all, of my time on another forum. Posting BW images was contrary to the likes of several very vocal members. On occasion the only comment I might receive on a post was perhaps "I hate Black and White"; several others were equally dogmatic in offering comments re monochrome images. I moved on - last time I looked the forum seemed to still have that vibe - life is too short.
Wouldn't it be so boring if all we could do is make cookie cutter / copy cat images?
Geesh, reread and need to get another cup of coffee, way off in the weeds
Yeah, some are displeased with B&W, and others are displeased with shooting in JPG, and so on. Sometimes some color (sepia) toning works, other times, I move on. If you dig it, that is, in the end, all that matters.
At least we have some activity in here, and good or bad, some comments and likes is a good thing, and encouraging... or keeps the hope and forum alive anyway.
