I ordered from Japan (used a different eBay seller), and got 15% fees plus 2% processing. Including taxes, tarrifs, and processing, I paid $100, making it 25% of the original cost!! Welcome to the new world

I verified with eBay customer service that there would be no additional fees and if there are, the seller would cover it. So not all listings from Japan have the custom duties (tariffs)?

A few months ago, I picked up a lens from Map Camera and I declared it with customs but that day they decided not to have anybody go through customs, so I was just waved through. If you’re considering a vacation, Japan’s not a bad destination. Worst case you pay tariffs, but you don’t have the shipper charging you fees.

I noticed shipping fees on higher-end camera bodies was unusually high, until I realized they were just building in tariffs. But in some cases, a shop would still charge expensive shipping but note below that tariffs were not, in fact, included! Buyer beware.
