p.1 #1 · Mansion Hill

I had some time to kill this morning so I decided to take a walk around an area called Mansion Hill. The ornate homes were built by very wealthy residents in the late 1800s and have been either maintained or in some cases restored to their original beauty. They now function as apartments, or in some cases Bed & Breakfast homes and fancy inns. One of them was the Governor's Mansion for many years but was replaced by a much larger one on the shore of one of our lakes.

Thanks, Brent, That's one problem with building such ornate and stately residences, they are very difficult to sell and maintain.

Just beautiful Brent! I love the homes with a "Widows Walk" on the roof. Are these near water?

Your new camera?

I love this architecture. We have a town nearby that is loaded with this style of architecture. Yes very expensive but they go very fast around here.

Photography is most excellent!

Thanks, Douglas. These particular homes have been very well maintained and seem to be quite popular as a bed & breakfast inn. The location is ideal. Close to downtown, the UW campus and a large lake.

Thanks much, Dan. I also love this style of Ēl architecture. You're right about being close to water. Lake Mendota, a very large body of water, is just a block north of where these homes stand.

These were taken with the new (to me) M10M--my all-time favorite camera. I used the same lens for all of them--the 50mm Summicron V5, a lens I really like.
