I’ve watched this little buck since he was born last year. I first saw him and took this image of him in velvet this past June 4th. Yesterday he presented me the opportunity to capture him in his latest form. He’s a beauty. He runs with some females, but he always lays out in the woods, literally laying down while they’re eating waiting for them to finish. Then he may saunter up and have a few bites, but ladies first. 🥰
Hope you enjoy…and thank you for the visit.

Good work, Terry. It might be my monitor, but the second seems to have a green tint to it, or perhaps that is just the reflection of the surrounding flora. Continue with the mineral blocks and he might be spectacular next year.

Morris
Hi Morris. He was out in the open on the first and in early June I don’t think the trees were so full yet… where the other shot had him back under complete cover. I did white balance off of the ears so I think the color is just being affected by the total green surrounding. He is wary and doesn’t hang out in the open for long…can’t blame him there. 😁
I just looked out and he’s out there chowing down right now with the girls…Now that I think of it, I had moved the corn back under the canopy a bit because of the extreme heat we were having for a few weeks. I was trying to give them a break out of direct sun, which makes the color a bit more challenging for me I guess.

Hey Douglas. I think it’s just the surrounding canopy as I was telling Morris throwing all the green, but I did white balance off the ears so I believe that compared to the first one which was right out in the open it may appear to be green. I don’t see it on my monitor, but then I edited these on an iPad mini in the raw processor Photomator instead of on my Mac. I was just feeling lazy.😁 Barbara knew that I had taken some shots of him and wanted to see them so I just took a short shortcut to save some time. It may have bit me in the you know where.🫤

He is a handsome young man! Lovely shots.
The ones here are rubbing off the velvet now. Love seeing the deer .
Birdie
Hi Berdie and thank you for visiting. I’m like you and really love having them here…although I am quite apprehensive about their fate a few months from now. 🤞
Thank you Dave. Yeah I stopped down. the lens a little because he was moving around so much I was afraid I'd lose focus. That f 2.0 maximum aperture when you use it grabs of thin slice of air. 😁

Nice story, The first shot is my favorite, as Karl mentioned nice separation from the background.
