p.1 #1 · Questions Regarding Copying E100

I’m on my second roll of E100 and have been happy with outdoor scenes, but I’m questioning skin tones in directional light. First, shadows seem to be markedly red. I can even see some red in black hair if I try to bring up the exposure on the hair. Is this an issue with my Lightroom techniques, or do I need to be using a small flash to reduce the skin contrast? Maybe yes to both.

First use of camera and testing camera/E100..so victim imaged with light entering large window..

OK.. no response. I’ll take that as a don’t shoot people in anything other than flat lighting..

Lots of contrast and saturation going on here. I'd try a flat/neutral profile in LR, and then color balancing to taste. When you scan a slide, you're scanning an image that (generally) already has all the contrast and saturation it would need for projection/print. Using a camera/editor profile that's geared towards typical photography scenes can really punch all that up.

Thanks. I suspect that was a side product of the way I sharpen the image.

My recommendation with Ektachrome is to either shoot it in broad daylight or be prepared to color correct via filter. Even indirect sunlight like this skews things badly. I've never used a more sensitive film.
