I'm still regularly using a number of adapted lenses with my cameras and I'd really like to leave the Lightroom subscription behind.

Does anyone have a suggestion for alternative options for adding lens name & various metadata?

Exiftool. It's a commandline tool but the website also lists various GUI versions.

Lenstagger itself uses exiftools. I suggest spending half an hour with chatgpt to perfect an exiftools command that works for you. For example, you can ask

"what would be the exiftools command to add lens data to all my photos? I want to specify the lens name, max aperture, shot aperture and I want to apply to either a file or a directory."

You get the idea.
