I’m looking for folks with SL3-s and an external intervalometer to run a couple short tests for me. Please note I also own an SL3 and SL2-s and this is not an issue. It has never been an issue with any camera I’ve owned ever. I’ve been shooting time lapses for 15 years.
The issue is that the SL3-s skips frames, and lots of them. Each time lapse starts out okay but pretty quickly starts skipping frames. You can see the intervalometer trigger the exposure and the camera receive the signal because the displays on the camera act as they normally do. IE the information overlays disappear while the frame is being taken and reappear afterward. After a while it is skipping almost every other frame.
I have run ALOT of tests and this behavior is completely independent of interval, shutter speed, shutter type(mech vs elec), file type. Once I factory reset the camera it solves the issue but it’s only temporary. It inevitably returns. I thought perhaps it could be a conflict in the firmware with my settings (even though they are identical to my SL3) but even leaving everything alone after a factory reset results in the issue returning pretty quickly.
The camera functions completely normally using the internal intervalometer.
The test- Please use an external intervalometer plugged into either of the mini-jack ports and setup an interval shooting sequence of 300 photos at a 2 second interval, with a shutter speed of 1/30. You can set the iso high to be able to see your frames if you want but that’s not even necessary. Just watch the camera and listen for the shutter and report back your findings.

Well I am happy to report after months of trying to figure this out, I finally reached the right person at Leica USA. I just received this response and IT WORKED!!!!
Thank you for contacting us regarding your SL3-S and for doing such extensive testing. What I suspect may be at play is an issue with your CAI integration. Kindly try turning off the sign content feature in the Leica Content Credentials section of the main menu and see if the issue persists. If the issue goes away kindly hold tight as we work on a firmware resolution. If the issue does persist, please send your camera to our service facility so our technicians can issue it a new CAI certificate with our service diagnostics tool.
