p.1 #1 · Camera insurance options (accidental damage, water)

I am debating ordering a GRiv or not and wanted to pose this question to see if anyone had advice.

My use case with my Ricoh GR has always been mainly cycling, mountain biking, bikepacking, backpacking, etc. My biggest concern with this is accidental damage from a crash, rattling on my body or the bike while riding, water damage, etc. Due to this, I sometimes will leave my GR at home on long bike trips especially if weather is looking questionable, in favor of just using my phone or a weatherproof TG camera.

Now that I am considering getting a new GRiiix or GRiv, I want to get a policy on it for accidental damage so that I feel a bit more free to just bring it biking with me every time. I would still take good care of it, keep it safe from weather and what not, but accidents happen and with the price of the GRiv now I think it might be reasonable for me to get some kind of warranty on it for peace of mind.

Curious if anyone has a suggestion on insurance/coverage options they have used for their camera before? Specifically something for accidental damage, drops, water, etc. I know BH offers plans from Allstate and the opinions seem somewhat mixed on this. Also, if you had to actually use this kind of policy, how was your experience? TIA

I’ve had good luck with State Farm. Only 1 claim but fast payment and no hassles. Price was roughly $12 per thousand. $120 for $10,000.

State Farm has treated me well too. They were pretty thorough with documenting my gear though, just make sure you have all of your papers and such if you decide to go with them, OP.
