p.1 #1 · Rx1Riii after 2 weeks of use and vacations
I'm back from vacation and had a chance to use my light travel combo. The Rx100vii and my RX1Riii (replacing my version2). I've posted a few images on the RX1Riii image thread. Some others below. Nothing spectacular but for vacation pictures. But I feel they are one notch above my Rxr1ii in quality.
Just a few observations:
1) I really like the sensor size. I didn't appreciate how much more it was version my Rx1Rii and also a bit larger than my A1ii.
2) I was afraid of noise given I try to maintain a higher shutter speed. For me this is needed as I want to increase my keepers rate. Either not bothering me or cleans up very nicely.
3) The new creative still are good. I used FL3.
4) The lack of a flip screen is somewhat an issue, but in most cases, can be easily addressed. Screen is much improved and allow uses in even harsh lighting. Not Iphone like, but much better than before. EVF is very good for intented use.
5) I've received both the half case and grip during my time away and tried it since. The grip was a requirement to make it as usable as my Rx1Rii with the thumbs up. I have to say that the half case brings the size to a more ergonomic friendly one and offer some protection. I can say that if Sony had allowed the Rx1Riii to be a total size of what it is with the half case, they could have fitted the tilt screen, probably a bigger battery and a few extra bells and whistles. All while still keeping the small footprint. But in current format, it offers flexibility.
6) used it with the godox it20. It really is a perfect pair.
7)Updated menu and button layout is a match for Sony user muscle memory.
All in all, some of the fears I've had have been mitigated.
Hopefully, I will use it as much as my now sold Rx1Rii.
