OK, so some of my gear is practically Victorian. I use a remote trigger, a MicroSync II, made by Tamrac, and made no more. I can hide the trigger in my hand, needed for what I do. (If anyone knows of a remote trigger that small, I'm all ears.)
OK, here's the weird part with the R7. I put the R7 on a tripod, with the favorite 15-85 lens on. I switch it to stabilizer off, as we all know that is best. I set up a focus target at the spot I need, and take a test shot. I then switch the lens to manual focus so it can't change focus.
Step back out and take another test shot. Guess what? The focus has snapped to the background, despite being on manual.
Here's where it gets weird. If I re-do the steps, but leave the stabilizer ON, manual focus stays manual focus and the R7 won't snap to the background.
OK, more weirdness.
If I set the shutter speed to 1/1000 or faster, for the 15 fps frame rate, I obviously need a higher ISO. Guess what? If I select Auto ISO, the R7 will fire at maybe a frame a second, regardless of Program, Manual, Time, Aperture. If I select a particular ISO, then it will rattle off frames at 15 fps.
Makes me wish there was a DSLR with the R7 specs. This mirrorless stuff is maddening.
And yes, I'd love to hear about modern remote triggers with small triggers, not the deck-o-cards most seem to have.
