Not sure if this the right locations but want to discuss the lack of firmware support for TTartisans on MacOS.
I’m very interested in some of the nice lenses TTartsans, especially for Sony a Fuji lens mounts, that they are creating but it’s my understanding that there is no ability to use MacOS devices to upgrade firmware for their lenses. First is this correct? All Google searches I’ve run certainly leave me with this impression. Second, if so, do they have any plan to correct this? Third, if not, why are their lens products acceptable to the end community? Certainly none of the YouTuber’s providing reviews ever call this out so when I call it out to them the typical response is a shrug and a “Oh” response.
Does anyone know what is going on? Is there a better place to post this?

It looks like a new, small Chinese company that makes lower end lenses. Obviously there are compromises.
Is there some correlation between the "end community" and MacOs users?
For example are Canon users or Nikon users more likely to use Windows?
In the short term there should be some way to access a Windows machine. I think Fedex Office still rents computer time in stores as a last resort.

Well I’ve owned Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fujifilm, Sigma, Viltrox, and Zeiss products and they have all offered support for both MacOS and Microsoft Windows support.
I've also owned dozens of lenses from 6+ brands and only once did I even need to do a FW update, and that was through the camera. I hope it works out, but why deal with such a flakey company if there are more reliable alternatives?

My experience with lens developers that have a their own USB-C port on the body of the lens or a special lens cap with a USB-C port is that the do not support updating their firmware via the camera body and the camera manufacturer’s firmware.
So if they do this we must use the software they provide and if there is no MacOS support I guess I am out of luck. Oh well.
Still I would expect a review of the lens would make an effort to highlight this issue.
By the way I have probably done at least one firmware upgrade on every brand of lens I’ve owned and for my main systems like Canon and Sony more than one.
Despite the official stance, some users have found success updating TTArtisan firmware on macOS by using specific USB cables and configurations. For instance, a user reported success with a particular combination of cables connecting a MacBook Air to a TTArtisan lens . Additionally, creating a virtual machine running Windows on a Mac is another potential workaround, though it may require technical expertise .

Thank you. Right now I don’t have time to research but it would be helpful for TTArtisan to publish an application note on how to take these approaches to updating their products. Certainly would be interested in either approach.
If any one can provide a link to an article on using either approach please respond to this thread. Thank you.

Why would cables make any difference if they are working correctly per USB specs.? It would be ridficulous if only a defective cable works for some reason?

Protocol, speed, power delivery.
macOS users have reported similar issues with Godox/Flashpoint triggers and flashes. I noted when I last updated Godox said to use a USB to hub to Mac configuration; that worked. Others said USB C to USB A worked, but not USB C to USB C.
