I really dont expect a lot of improvements, everything is becoming incremental with big big spins. Unless Sony can crack the next level in sensor technology, not much is happening. these days they talk about af and how much improvements there are every time they roll out a new camera.
I think whatever its out there now, is more than enough for 99.99% and then some.
I had the x1d and now x2d, it might be me, but I do enjoy a ‘slow’ camera more, I think I see more.
The lens market, is another story, so many good lenes are popping everywhere specially china. I would like to really thank them for their efforts and lots of goodies. I think that in turn is pushing the traditional manufacturers.
This topic is about upgrading but I'm not thinking about upgrading or replacing my 907x 100C. I'm thinking about getting X2D II to be used in more tactile situations and also keep my 907x for more slow paced stuff, landscapes for example, and to be used with my 500C film body.
Am I nuts? X2D II is basically the same camera with better auto focus and in-body image stabilization. Not to mention the obvious form factor and handling. My syndrome is in the justification phase where I'm trying to convince myself I indeeddo need another camera to my arsenal. I'm seriously hoping this will fade out soon..
Shooting landscapes only, the new features seemed more important to portrait or faster object photographers; so holding off until the next model. Not immune to GAS either but typically looking at upgrades every other new releases instead of consecutively.

There are several improvements over mark 1 for landscape phonographer as well, but it is subjective whether they warrant the cost:
- shutter control port
- brighter LCD
- better tilting screen
- joystick
- better IBIS
- faster
- Auto-ISO in M mode
- more function buttons
