I agree with you about the soft feel to this. I think it works better than if the image was tack sharp. The tones are beautiful and the kids' position is perfect. I look at this and see a bit of myself at that age.

I'm pleased the image connected with you beyond the usual composition, exposure, etc. levels.
Coincidentally I was listening to Ted Vieira's latest podcast in which he touched upon an image's capacity to relate to a viewer beyond the original intent of the photographer.
