p.1 #1 · Guaviare - Serrania Lindosa, Colombia

This is a little-known place. It's slowly coming onto the touristic circuit, but in five days there we saw only three other groups. It used to be controlled by guerillas, but that was many years ago, everything was perfectly safe now.

What impressed me was the variety of things to be seen within half an hour to an hour of driving, and up to one hour of hiking. Rivers coloured by underwater plans (the little cousins to the more famous Caņo Cristales - where we couldn't go as our son wasn't yet 5), 10,000-year old cave paintings...except not in a cave but on three huge walls in the jungle, weird rock formations, and so on.

Here are some images, hope you enjoy and think of visiting!

Cedric, lovely images, I like how low you got to get the colors in the river. Quite a place, did you feel safe? Interesting to know that there is an age limit!

Many thanks! We definitely did feel safe... of course you never know for sure, but we felt as safe as in many other countries.

The age limit applies to (some) national parks... 5 yrs old for some of them, 7 yrs old in those with very high routes. It was a bit tricky to have to change our initial plans but things worked out great after all.

Cedric, what an amazing trip! Beautiful place and you photographed it so well. I had read about the red river, it happens only certain time of the year. Did you do it with a tour or on your own? Thanks for sharing this set from an area very seldom seen on FM.
