Got an email from Leica Miami offering to pre-order brand new Leicavits which I thought was interesting. If you are looking for one, and didn't want to pay the crazy used prices, you can pre-order one for around 1100$ now, not too bad.

I was mulling over the purchase of a black Leicavit or a Ricoh GR IV : which would still see use in ten years time.
Unfortunately, my data point is a fully functional Ricoh GRD IV from 2012, and a modern chrome Leicavit that has a broken drive belt.
On the other hand: anything Leica makes in black paint finish seems to accrue value over time.
I should get the silver Leicavit repaired; If the Ricoh fails, it becomes a paperweight.
