It suggests that date and time are retained for some types of resets but not all. It is silent about firmware updates. My guess is that they are retained since they are not exactly “settings,” but I would be prepared to redo the updates just in case.
Can you tell us why you are contemplating a reset? ISOMAN wrote:
If I do a factory rest for my X-T5, do I lose any current updates, do I have to reset date and Time?
Thanks for any information.
Most products only have one set of FW available. It would require the equivalent of a dual-BIOS to return to the previous version in the event of an update failure. Typically consumer products like P/S would not need more than a single FW.
You can use the newer version of the Phone XApp to record your current settings, and then restore them. I think the firmware version remains unaltered.
The manual is surprisingly clear - there are 4 different reset options that reset different settings.
Only initialize will reset data and time.
None of the options will affect firmware.

I think the first three are pretty clear — they are limited to specific sorts of settings.
While I suspect that the fourth option doesn’t reset firmware (for several reasons), I don’t see that the manual entry addresses that question.
In practical terms, I think our OP can start with the assumption that it doesn’t but be prepared to have to redo the firmware updates on the off chance that it does.
