It’s an amazing area and I think it’s one of the largest Wilderness areas in the country.
Yes - so different from the rest of the state's mountains as it is a high volcanic dome, rather than craggy peaks. It, along with the area around Schofield Pass (Marble, Crystal, Gothic), were my favorite areas.
Maybe you meant largest in Colorado?
The Frank Church in Idaho and the Bob Marshall complex (includes Scapegoat. and Great Bear) here in Montana are each around 2 M +/- acres, Flattops about 235K. And then there are ones in Alaska.
Maybe I should scan my old slides of the Flattops from back then and post a few of the better ones?

You're right Doug, I originally meant the Flat Tops being one of the largest in the country, but I was wrong about that. Yes, large for Colorado but not as large as some of the ones you mentioned. I would definitely like to see some of your scanned slides, that would be cool!
