p.1 #1 · out of warranty service for Nikon Zf, how does it work?
Hi all - need to get something fixed on my Nikon Zf. The sensor that switches between viewfinder and back display is on the fritz (yes, I read all over the internet about blowing/wiping the sensor etc. not helping, it must be busted).
I purchased the camera here on the forum, and it's not under warranty any more.
Can I still send to Nikon to fix? What's the process like? Will it likely be expensive?

Yes you can send to Nikon to fix, and they'll quote you the repair price. If it is Ok to you, you can have them fix it for that price. If it is too high, you can have them ship the camera back to you unrepaired. I have no idea what this repair would cost exactly, but I'd expect a couple hundred dollars at least just due to the labor to open the camera.

Go to the USA site and fill out the data for the form. https://repair.nikonusa.com/en/ProductEntry
They will let you know if it is eligible and if there will be a charge, for example if there was a service advisory for a general defect that would be free.
