First off I am not a computer nerd. But I have managed to create Alexa routines for a friend with dementia for routine darkroom procedures. One for mixing his chemicals and one for developing prints. I thought I could use a smart plug to control his enlarger. That I can do to turn on and off for focusing. But cannot figure out how to turn on and off the enlarger a certain time, which may vary depending on the negative, each time. I want to be able to say something like “expose for 22 seconds”
Any suggestions? I have asked peeps at Alexa support and done google searches but no luck.
Does this help? It looks like it's for a fixed time, but may be modified? If not can your friend use a cover to stop the exposure at the right time (eg set it to 30 seconds but cover the light after 22 secs)
Thanks mcbroomf, I am using wait comands with the routines I’ve created for mixing chemicals and developing. But what I need now is the ability to give a voice comand like “ print for 22 seconds” and have Alexa turn a smart plug on and then off after 22 seconds. And then maybe the next one will be for 30 seconds etc etc.
My friend has a couple of Kearsage timers which are really nice, but with dementia too confusing. I’m going to set up a Time-O-Lite which might work for him. But if that doesn’t work than voice comands via Alexa would be ideal hopefully.
