p.1 #1 · "Sweet Bay" Magnolia and "Stella Doro" Daylily
I am working on my b&w processing. C&C welcomed..I was aiming for whites that were "set apart" but not overpowering and loosing detail in the petals.

Second image first -- well done, Dan.
First image -- marred by the blurred leaf above the flower petals, and by the poor margin of the leaf against the two right-most petals. The central parts are in sharp focus showing good detail.

To my eyes, you nailed it. The whites in both images are nice and bright but retain detail. The flowers are both set off well against that jet black background. Well done.

Thanks brother!
"GE" nailed the "leaf distraction". I saw it but ignored it.
Thanks!
You getting all this Midwest rain?
Bone dry here and back to high heat and humidity.

Dan'l, I always work with layers to get the basic details of the petals and then work to blend them into existence on the original. It is great fun to develop the details so they come shining through. Sometimes, I have to take a fairly under exposed capture to augment the detail.

Well that is where you excel above me Douglas. I have been told this by a few members and is something I need to work on.
For me everything is a "pain". Be it in the pp time, layers, masks...
Thanks as always!

We've been getting hammered with rain. Fortunately the big storm Sunday only dumped 3 inches on us. Milwaukee, just 70 miles to the east, got nearly 10 inches and bad flooding. We are waterlogged.

I love the first one, lovely composition, very sharp and fantastic processing.
The deep B&W's are beautiful, great job Dan..!

Thanks brother! I wanted the petals to be a tad soft to allow the eye to enter to the middle and the "chaf" from the "carpels" be more visable.
Appreciate your works!
