I saw a similar thread on Fuji and I thought to start one here. I've owned this lens almost when it came out. It's sharp and I like the overall IQ of it. Sometimes the bokeh is a bit busy but my biggest complaint was the AF speed. It used to 'hunt' and a bit noisy when it does that. Until I sent it to Zeiss NYC for the firmware upgrade. The AF speed has improved and even a lot better now with the A6700 and latest camera firmware.
thanks for sharing that. I’ve heard mixed things about the AF on that lens, so it’s nice to hear the firmware update actually made a noticeable difference. Sounds like it pairs really well with the newer bodies too.
I agree with you on the image quality, sharpness and rendering are what really make that lens stand out. The bokeh can get a little busy depending on the scene, but it’s still a solid piece of glass overall.

Yeah. And as far as the bokeh is concerned, if I wanted more smoothness I just turn on the excellent lens blur filter via Adobe Camera Raw and does the job really well.
