In 5 weeks I'm going for a 4 week travel with wife and friends to the southern part of India.
First week is in Tamil Nadu and we will see a lot of tempels, so 14-30 and 24-120 are no-brainers.
Second and third week are in Kerala and backwaters with a lot of birding opportunities, so there's the 600PF (+ 1.4x TC).
Last week is in Karnataka and we will go on a tiger safari and some birding.
Should I take a 100-400 or the 400/4.5
I think there won't be a lot of opportunities for 100-300, so I'm leaning towards the 400/4.5, better for low light and a little better IQ.
My cameras are Z8 and Z6III.
Everything will fit in a Thinktank backlight 26L with a total weight of 8kg (with100-400) or a little less (with 400/4.5)
I would bring 100-400 rather than 400/4.5 . Otherwise you have a big gap between 120mm to 400mm and that can be a useful range for tiger. I will do central circuit for tiger next year in India and plan to bring 100-400 and 600/4s, i think.
