FWIW, Amazon has the above as a "refurb" for $899, although it seems that all of the people posting have indicated they received sealed new stock. As they say, YMMV. The refund/replacement window is curiously long at 365 days. Going to see how this system will work for me.

Yeah, I know, it would be nice to have a more RAM, and maybe an M4, but those are not in my price range. I'm certain this will eat my 6YO mid-level Ryzen PC with RTX-2060 GPU for lunch and be cheaper to run in the process. Don't know if it is true, but I saw a report of 10Watts at idle and 60Watts at full tick, which is amazing, if true.

I would not hesitate at that price point. I have an M1 Max with 32 and it’s great.

That is significantly cheaper than a Mac Mini M4 with the same RAM/SSD but fewer cores or with a similar number of cores and SSD but less RAM. The first Mini M4 with more RAM, similar number of cores and SSD costs twice as much. So, this looks like a great price!

The only issue I see is the shorter OS support timeframe (but the Apple policy with Arm chips remains to be seen).
