So I'm on the lomography mailing list because their website/magazine is excellent etc.
Occasionally they send out job openings. This one caught my eye - Wholesale & Retail Partnerships Manager - North America.
You get to travel, deal w the big wigs, create new business opportunities etc.
Sounds super fun for someone who is a film enthusiast - and they stress that is what they want.
Based in Brooklyn, NY - so an expensive area to live in.
Out of curiosity I click on the link to see what their compensation package is. Job titles/responsibilities similar to this pay in the $150K range. Not huge, but expected.
Lomography is offering $45K/year! You literally get paid more working at an In-N-Out restaurant flipping burgers!
Who would take that job? It's not entry level, it is senior mgmnt requiring years of experience.

Welcome to the hell that is the current state of capitalism. Looking for a recent grad with 10+ years senior level experience, compensation will be disclosed after you accept the role.
I was recently referred to a company for a new role that they were creating, supposedly with me specifically in mind. I got past the 3rd meeting with people supposedly highly involved in the hiring process, including the VP that would be my manager, and could never get a solid job description or compensation package out of them. I told them to sod off when they wanted me to meet the CEO without any of that info. It's insane out there.
The lomo job sounds like one of those classics where they expect you to take it because of your "passion". 45k in 2025 is a special level of pathetic, even for an entry level job.

It might be doable for someone years from retirement with existing savings and abode who likes the lifestyle. There are a lot of people like that in all industries in late life career limbo just want to work the last remaining years. And there are plenty of interns who work for nothing. Maybe LOMO attracts bubbly carefree young people who care as much about money as fstop and shutter speed?
