I personally really do not think the last 5 years is a disaster. I sold my first house with a pretty good appreciation and brought my second house with very low loan interest. All my assets appreciated pretty healthily as well. Food price seems increased a bit, but I have catered lunch and dinner at work, so I probably do not feel it that much.
In that case you can apply that to your camera gear. Your used gear just appreciated with the price increase and you should be able to carry that forward to the purchase price of your new gear. I also now have Fuji gear that I purchased used that I can sell for more than my purchase price. Have you seen the rising prices at goodwill lately?
Getting back on topic, the upcoming increases noted at Fujirumors are crazy. I thought at some point I'd like to try a GFX100RF, but never quite pulled the trigger at $4,899. Now at $5,399, and soon to be a couple hundred higher.
I've been in the GFX system before with a 50R, then a 50SII. I kinda regret selling that one as getting back to a 100SII is looking pretty out of reach. I could afford it, but my wife who was raised a Dutch tightwad would seriously frown on it.
To think I sold the GF 110mm a few years back for something like $1,700, and now they will be $3,200. Ouch!

Used prices, at least for (some) lenses, do not seem to have gone up that much from what I can tell. But I could be entirely wrong. That GFX100RF price increase is tough, though. I was lusting for one, too.
I had my pre-order come up for an X100VI, and they didn't honor the original price. So I passed on it. The price increase is real enough for me to re-think this purchase, and when the price increases again I'll even further way from a new one. I'll see what happens with the used market or just pass on it completely.
What will be interesting is what might happen to the overall market. Will sales slow down enough that development also slows? Will sales just stay consistent, perhaps buoyed by non US markets?
Or will we just see a spike in the gray market, where resellers are finding supply in non US markets and perhaps finding their way into the states?

All good questions. I think we're all going to get a lesson on economic impacts over the next 4-6 months, and it probably won't be pretty. I retired early 3 years ago at age 58 and am glad I picked up some consulting gigs for the first two years and didn't need to dip into savings until this year. Between the covid/stimulus induced inflation and the new tariff induced inflation, the cost of living has increased dramatically in that time. I'm still fortunate and can weather it but worry for the younger generation with kids.
On the camera & lens front, Fuji hasn't been shy about passing along the price increases. Canon and Nikon haven't been quite as brutal but still real. I don't follow Sony, and Leica is in a league of their own for raising prices and getting away with it. I'm sure I will continue to buy gear here and there because I like to try new things, but it will probably be less than in the past. It's not likely to be good for any company selling discretionary items.
You would think that at the current price hikes, stuff at the B&S would be flying, but nope. I'm watching several really desirable lenses sit for days, if not weeks. Everyone's just broke. If State Farm didn't jack up my home insurance, I'd be buying all those GFX lenses listed at the B&S. Everyone's just hurtin at the moment.
Meanwhile all the Nikon guys are grabbing refurbs today at lower than used prices. Panic buying is fun!

I had wanted to try a GFX 100RF when they came out but couldn't quite get over the $4,800 price tag. They're in stock these days, but the price is now $5,600. Crazy stuff.

There are some really clean, used examples in the Buy/Sell Forum. Have seen them priced as low as $4150 pre-tariff, and a few in the $4400-4700 over the past few weeks. Not bad.
(Not selling one, just keeping an eye on the used market for these)
A lot of these prices won't come back down after the tariff regime is over. Consumers will adapt to the new normal and companies will find no reason to lower the price. Meanwhile, my paycheck is still the same.
