When the camera is in viewfinder only + eye sensor setting, is there a way to access the menu on the LCD screen by pushing the menu button? Ive tried everything, and it looks like the only way is to change the view mode to an eye sensor setting.
It would be nice to have the LCD come on when you hit Menu if your eye is not at the EVF. My normal setting is EVF + eye sensor. I memorized that hitting the Viewmode button 3 times brings up the LCD only. Twice more goes back to EVF + eye sensor. I don't really like it but that was the easiest and I rarely use menus anyway. I also wish that there was an auto on for the LCD if you tilt the screen. I'm speaking from an X-T5 perspective but would think X-T4 is similar.

That's unfortunate. It's annoying to press the view mode button to access the menu on the LCD, and having to press the view mode button several more times to go back to the EVF + eye sensor which is also my normal setting. I'm assuming that a firmware would fix the issue...?
The XT4 has the twist and flip LCD like the XH2, while the XT5 has the tilt-swing version. For me the advantage to the twist and flip is doing just that to hide (and/or protect) or show the LCD. This is faster than several button presses for me. YMMV.

I agree although I have gotten used to it. I wish hitting the Q button could be set to automatically bring the Q menu up on the LCD without having to change the View mode as well. To me, making changes w/o my eye at the EVF is important and a strength of the X-T layout.

I shoot my X-T4 EVF style, mostly with the screen closed. Just open the screen for LCD mode. It works great for what I shoot since I usually only need the tilt for vertical portraits. I have a Sony A7IV and use it the same way.
Yes, in OP's case, open the screen and press the menu button. No need for multiple view mode presses over and over.
