p.1 #1 · Gnarled Juniper Tree

Old Juniper tree in the neighborhood caught my eye during stormy weather.

Beautiful shots, love the 3rd capture, it shows the details and texture on the tree.

That's a beautiful, rugged neighborhood, Scott. Love the gnarly tree. On a side note, it looks like the ancient one is having to struggle with its younger neighbors.

Oh #2 for me but all are super Scott! What a treat to have this relic in the "'hood"! Instanly reminded me of the "Ents" in the Lord of the Ring!
I love trees...the more dead or leafless the better!
Again SUPER!

I appreciate that, thank you Marcelo! I was hoping the texture would come through—those old junipers have so much character!

Thank you, fortunate that I have good photo opportunities nearby and lots of dirt roads to explore and get out into nature and the mountains. That’s exactly the story I saw in the scene—this old soul holding its ground among the newcomers

I'm with you Dan, I love old dead trees too! Something very graphic about them and that's why I thought this would make for interesting B&W images. Thank you and I totally see the Ent connection - I half expected it to mutter something ancient and wise!

I wouldn't mind living in a neighborhood like that. Beautiful shots, beautiful environment.

I really appreciate that, Brent. I feel pretty lucky to have access to places like this and I’m always happy to share it with others. Madison’s beautiful in its own way too — sometimes I find myself wishing I had easier access to more urban environments!

I love twisted trees like that. My wife says I have way too many such shots, but I just can't help myself and keep shooting them.

I like 'em all, but #2 is my fav. If it were mine I would try working on the sky some more to bring out more detail (select and reduce highlights).
