p.1 #1 · TZM 02 ADAPTER

Hi, all

My friend purchased the TZM 02 adapter.
The autofocus with his LLL was okay, but manual focus is completely off.
He came to my house tried all my M mount lens and had the same issue.

We both did some research, looks like it is common issue.
So, if he wants to use manual focus accurately then he has to look for another adapter Rayqual ? Voigtlander ? Novoflex ? Ttartisan 6 bit etc

Can you guys recommend which one is good?

Thank you

TZM02 when not using autofocus doesn't park in a 'correct' position and that might mess up your manual focus. But the body's focus confirmation (green box, >O< ) can still works so it doesn't annoy me that much. If you'd want a good M to Z adapter you might want to search for Boryuza M to Z adapter, it's chipped with extendable helicoil for macro.

It is possible to use the TZM 02 as a dummy adapter. It is fiddly though with caveats. Set the F stop to 7 with the command dial, then turn off the camera. The adapter will fully retract. Then turn the camera back on and manual focus as usual.

BUT, if you accidentally hit the back button focus (if set up) or your shutter release is linked to focus, the adapter will simply autofocus again. You also have to remember to set the command dial back to the corresponding F stop for your focal length to set the correct IBIS and etc.
Like I said, fiddly...

We tested the AF on his Z6III and my ZF , everything was okay
Switched to MF, the MF was messed up. We tested on a subject that was 3 feet away, but we couldn't focus on it.

After we did some research, we attached the Z lens back to the camera and AF to infinity then turned it off.
Attached the M mount lens with TZM02 switched to MF.
This time we were able to focused. However, the subject was still 3 feet away but the focusing distance was over 5 feet on the lens.
Yea , the MF still off but at least we were able to nail the focus.
