When shooting RAW + JPEG (Large), will the JPEG still have all the picture style presets, or will it revert back to "standard"?
Reason I'm asking is because if I'm on an overseas trip, I'd like to shoot RAW + JPEG to save the RAW images for later editing while sharing the JPEGS during the trip.
I've done this before, but the JPEGS looks muddy, as if they were captured in "standard" picture style regardless of whatever custom JPEG adjustments I've done.
The RAW files will show as B&W, but you can change the settings and process as color however you like. Some clueless software may not picku up on the camera settings or maybe can be set to over ride them
You should be able to change the picture style settings in the camera to your taste. The jpg preview you see on the back of the camera will reflect the change, as will the file saved on the card.
Canon's RAW files have full-resolution jpegs embedded in them to speed up in-camera image reviewing, albeit highly compressed. If you have the right software, you can extract the jpeg for immediate use/sharing, eliminating the need to manage both file types and save some storage while traveling, etc.
You can also process out a jpeg from a RAW file in more recent Canon cameras if you're unable to extract the jpeg preview from the RAW. I haven't done this so I'm not sure of the processing options, but perhaps you have the ability to adjust the parameters and Picture Style at this point too? Maybe something to look into.
