What's wrong with Las Vegas? The Sphere is cool, depending on what they are doing. I used to go to conferences in Vegas years ago, but more times later as a starting place for driving to red rock areas. I personally prefer the dry heat over some other climates.

It is a matter of taste, and I understand that. Some people, including friends of mine, love it. We even know some folks who work the entertainment circuit there.
And it is a fine location for getting to a lot of interesting photographic locations.
As to the climate, I love the desert. I’ve been photographing extensively for 2 1/2 decades in Death Valley, for example.
My first (and only) stay in LV was, in fact, on a long drive from California to Southern Utah. A friend of my wife’s is a professional musician who plays shows in LV, and she encouraged us to stay there. We had a nice room and a pretty reasonable price, but we did not enjoy the place at all. It was actually kind of depressing.
