Time to shoot E6, before it goes from endangered to extinct. I’ll be taking a film only, 120 E100 August vacation, but it’s been fifteen years since I shot slide film. Can you suggest a high quality U.S. E6 lab?
Again, E6 films are almost gone, but they offer something that aren’t available elsewhere. I’m going to try using E100 with a pair of Fuji fixed lens 645 rangefinders for my upcoming August vacation. I’m avoiding buying a foldable Fuji 6x7, because of cost and prefer something smaller than a Mamiya 7. I’m hoping that I can work within the dynamic range of the E100 and that the very high resolution of this film, combined with pixelshift copying can negate the need to carry a 6x7. I mention “need” because I do print to 24”x 36”-48” on occasion.

Citizens Photo. Amazing people.
I've been shooting E100 and Velvia this year and literally fell in love. 645 with the E100 is my favorite.

I also recommend Citizens Photo in Portland, Oregon. Very consistent results with fast turnaround time and low cost.

For many years, Citizens Photo occupied a building on the corner of SE 7th and Stark St in Portland's inner east side. When that space closed in the early 2000's, they moved to a smaller store around the corner. Around 2010, Paulsons Carpet and Flooring moved out of their nearly block long store on Sandy Boulevard opening it for new business. It now houses the largest liquor store in the state of Oregon, Citizens Photo a a Lego Store. There may be some changes since the last time I was in Citizens was 2018. The guy have run it for years and hopefully, a new generation will continue their excellent work.
Citizens Photo, December 1988. Taken with my Leica M6 and a lens I couldn't afford.
Greg at CP has been amazing to work with. Every roll of E6 that I have received from them always comes back perfect. I used a couple others that certainly had issues.
I head out to Portland next week and I hope to visit! Thanks for sharing that photo!

Now I remember why I don’t shoot e6 anymore. $18.50 - $20 just to develop a roll.
Many labs are much less expensive, but there is shipping both way.. about $20 and then there is film. New E100 is close to $20 per roll of 120. Citizens and AGx seem to be much less expensive and Citizens also does C41.. That first step of buying the film is a pretty big barrier.
If I remember right, they only process C41 and B/W in house, E6 they send out. I am not saying this is a bad thing, nor that the lab that does the actual E6 processing is bad.
You really can't go wrong with them as they strictly do E6 so you know they got their process down to a tee. They charge quite a bit for scanning so I use them only for dev, but damn do they do an amazing job with development.
I just home scan slide and it's turned out ok so far.
Here's two examples. First is with a Mam 7 + Velvia 50, second is a 903SWC + Ektachrome 100
