Ive found a few hummer nests in my time but this year was unique. While watering flowers in the front of the house I spotted a hummer constantly coming and going from the low hanging silver maple in my front yard. grabbing the binoculars I started spying and sure enough she was building a nest and the rest of the month was birding ecstasy. These are some of the shots. The nest shots were from a ladder and a 20ft selfie stick to verify egg laying. Then I attached a ladder to the tree on the blind side, secured with a tether and set up camouflaged the so I could come and go unnoticed. They are just days from fledging and it has been an incredible experience watching them grow from the size of a tic-tac egg to what they are today. Shot with the Sony A1II and 200-600 the green leaf canopy didn't help the shooting.
Nest was built with spider web, cotton wood silk, lichen and other bits.
