Kollóttadyngja, a miniature Olympus Mons, is a shield volcano in the Northern Highlands of Iceland, lit with a splendour the gods might envy. I might have flown over Olympus Mons itself, had Elon Musk not fallen behind with his Mars-bound chariots.
But the gods have grounded us for now, so we turn to Earth. Olympus Mons remains, as far as we know, the tallest mountain in the Solar System; it rises to three times the height of Everest and, like Kollóttadyngja, crowned with a caldera at its summit.
