I recently developed GAS for the 500 f/5.6. And it is in stock now at $3000 and about to go to $3300 in two days. Very tempting to pull the trigger but I have about 3,000 reasons to resist.

Yes, this strategy could have possibly worked back in the 50's or so, back when Kodak was making loads of cameras, Graflex was cranking, Deardorf and others were pumping out 4x5's and 8x10's and there were still optics manufacturers in the us (Kodak, American Optical, B+L and a few others).
It's about 75 years too late and probably wasn't even a good idea back then.
Hmm, the nice Kodak 35mm cameras were made in Germany, in factories they had taken over. Domestic stuff was the likes of Argus ('the brick'). And we weren't any better in the UK, turning out Rollei copies (Microflex and ..cord) and contraptions like Periflex.
They will just tell you that "it's exactly what I voted for!", even though they're clearly suffering. Insane. This phenomenon will be studied for years to come.
I also thought about selling all my GFX gear as it seems overkill for what I use it for. But everytime I look at the images, I just can't do it. Also, the ability to be able to crop aggressively has been very useful for me.
Under the previous administration for 4-5 years people saw housing prices almost double, new car prices skyrocket along with everything else like food. A new truck even before the current administration cost what a condo used to cost. People voted because the middle class was destroyed under the previous administration. People are unable to afford house and car payments and a $200 increase on a $3K lens that someone can buy used or is not necessary for daily living matters little to them. The move here is to bring other countries to the table to negotiate trade deals that aren't so one sided against this country and I am willing to see if it works. I pay more in groceries for the week or month extra than camera equipment that will last me decade or more.

You could do well to slow down and get your facts straight.
The inflation from 2021 to 2024 (that previous administration) was a bit less than 16%. No, housing prices did not “double” during that administration, and car prices rose at a slightly higher rate. Perhaps you may have heard that there was a pandemic?
Income continued to rise at roughly the rates of previous years, though they accelerated slightly during the latter part of that “previous administration” as the economy’s performance accelerated and unemployment decreased to historic lows.
the claim that “the middle class was destroyed” under the previous administration is hallucinatory nonsense.
What has changed is that the gap between the richest Americans and everyone else has become larger and larger. Oddly, the current administration believes that the proper response to this problem is to… radically decrease taxes on the super rich, take away services from everyone else, and add an oppressive import tax that wil raise the costs of almost everything that regular Americans buy.
The extra $200 n a lens is only one symptom. You car — made in America by American companies or imported — is going to cost significantly more due to the new federal import tax. (I thought you guys were for lower taxes?) Getting your car serviced is going to cost more because, guess what… most of the parts will now come with an extra import tax paid by American consumers to the federa government. Getting a new appliance, toaster, computer, TV, light bulb, chair, tool, mattress, carpet, shirt, shoes… virtually everything you buy? There’s now a new federal import tax on all of those.
It isn’t just about camera gear.
You’d do well to turn off Fox News and do some actual reading about how all of this works.

The tariff stupidity is brought to you by the same guy who told us to inject ourselves with bleach during covid. Honestly, not sure which idea is worse. And, candidly, given the totality of what this guy is doing to free trade and our standing in the world, injecting some Clorox is looking better by the day.

For CI, new GFX bodies have been on order for months, and GFX100RFs are elusive.
There are tons of "new" GFX100RF cameras for sale from resellers, literally everywhere you look. I guess it does't have quite the same suckerbait appeal as the X100V-series cameras...

By "previous administration", you must mean the convicted felon's first term in office?

I'm independent and have no horse in this race. All I know is that I am worse off today than I was previously. Literally every single thing I spend money on is more expensive today than they were the last 2 years or so. Also, I now have to carry my Real ID, US Passport, SSN card, Tax documents, and Citizenship certificate in case I get profiled again.

You do know that Real ID was passed in 2005 right? You can either have a real ID or passport. Why you carry your SSN card, tax documents, and citizenship certificate I would love to hear. Especially how many times you have had to present it and where and why.

Who are you recommending I watch? CNN? The ones with misleading Russia dossier coverage, the botched coverage of Nick Sandmann, dismissal of the Hunter Biden laptop, the mischaracterization of Joe Rogan, and long list of other fine journalism.

I feel United States probably can say many other countries' trade practices is unfair to United States. But probably not for Japan.
United States played a significant role in hampering Japan’s semiconductor industry during the late 1980s and early 1990s, primarily through a combination of diplomatic pressure, trade policy, and economic strategy. (1986 U.S.Japan Semiconductor Trade Agreement). Also The U.S.funded CRADA released EUV IP under licenses that Japanese firms were blocked from accessing, while ASML was permitted and ultimately benefited. This pretty much crashed Nikon's lithography business.
United States also played a significant role in Japan's economical crash via the plaza accord.
United States deliberately treated Japan as a vessel state even when Japan is probably United States' most faithful alley for 70 years. Without United States' sabotaging efforts, Japan will remain the strongest economy in Asia or at least will be able to better balance Chinese influence. There will also be healthier competition in lithography and Semiconductor manufacturing industry. But, I guess the downside is that you will not be able to buy cheap Chinese made lens from Thypoch.
It's beginning to look a lot like a Banana Republic.
That's what will happen when you have a media lying to you that you have the best version of the commander in chief when he's not cognizant and the auto pen is running overtime.

We are better off with the auto pen than with the pen that, for no reason, starts a trade war, pardons insurrectionists, and actually investigates whether one can revoke Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship.
