Thanks Robert. That one had either 12 or 16. Most get taken by bald eagles. Pretty hard for the chicks to dive long enough to escape those talons, especially if a pair of eagles is working together.

Thanks Dave. Yes, we have a Wood Duck in our ponds with four ducklings. She is so far more alert and wary of dangers that I doubt she will lose any of her brood. Plus the ducklings just disappear into the cattails and Mom seems to know when the mink are not in there.
