Hi,
I've been a member of FM for many many years. During all this time, up to the present, my Paypal acc't is charged once every 3 months by Digital Darkroom (FM), which of course is fine and expected. In fact the last payment to Digital Darkroom (FM) was just 5 days ago.
Throughout the years including a few months ago I even posted some items for sale and purchased a few (here on FM).
Today I received a PM Titled "your Upload & Sell membership has expired".....To renew click here", with a link to descriptions of Upload & Sell and also Upload & Sell +. Just wondering is this something separate from the auto renewal that has always taken place from my Paypal acc't? I've never received a notice that my Upload and sell membership had expired in all these years. The fees are monthly and many times higher than the amount I've been paying Fm (digital Darkroom) once every 3 months.
Trying to figure out why I received this notice (PM) today and how it differs from my FM membership all these years, especially regarding listing items for sale? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

I appreciate your response. I am planning to do that but sometimes due to Fred's busy schedule and responsibilities, responses often take a very long time. I'm still waiting to see if anyone has received a similar PM as I described (above) when normally they simply pay their membership once every three months which allows one to post items for sale.
I also don't know if there anyone has reported scam PM's here on FM. The reason I ask is this one line PM I rececived as I described in my original post has a link to click on at the end of the sentence, which takes me to a page that described the variou FM buy-sell options and also shows three diferent payment links. I would suspect that maybe Fred would not or never include a link to click on that takes one to a page that includes payment options. It sort of reminds me of those scam text messages one receives that looks like its from one's bank etc. that has a link they ask you to click on.
Again in all the years I've been on FM, except for auto payment once every three months from my paypal account to Fm, I've never have ever received a cancellation notice that my subscription is about to expire that allows posting buy and sell ads and requires a payment every month...unless this was sent to me by mistake by FM and intended for volume sellers and buyers?

The F&M thread is littered with "scams" here on FM.
Fred's reply to the post about the "intrusion of the Capcha challenge" and the need for "firewalls" to try and stop this, while most frustrating for members, is more than needed.
I have had my ID stolen and I know the huge amount of damage that it can do and is still doing to me. I welcome the "challenges" however intrusive I might seem to believe they are.
The internet has become a major tool of "fraudsters"! I have been here over 20 years. I have seen the progression of skeptacism versus the assurance that Fredmiranda.com is safe place for photographers. I believe Fred is trying his best to present a platform for us to enjoy the attributes of photography and feel safe in doing that. All this without him going broke!
I must say I have NOT incurred what you describe. But I must say I use Ad Blocker Ultimate to filter all my internet correspondence.
Is this going to prevent anything that you have incurred happening from me? NO!
We all must become proacative in the policing of FM.com. In the "olde days" of FM it worked and worked very well. Fred's intervention was rarely needed. It still does to some degree. But making Fred aware of these invasions is a must IMHO.
Members subscription problems, and that workflow, is "above my pay grade". Mine is up for renewal in 50 days. I have never incurred a problem renewing in 20+ years. This is not to say I won't. I don't know how the subscription workflow works.
If you have advice for Fred. I think he would welcome it.
Now I can tell you that some posts as to "why can't I renew? or why wont Fred respond" is due to conflicts in what the poster is posting versus what is actually going on. Fred is VERY aware of "who is who" here.

Once again I appreciate your thoughts. I realize it's a daunting task for those that run any website, to stop all attempts at hacking and scams and that it takes everyone to be vigilant and share anything that they might encounter that's suspicious.
Thats one of the reasons I posted what I had encountered.
I hadn't done a thorough search to see if others had encountered scam PM's on this site but hadn't heard of such occurrences and thats why I initially was confused by the PM I received mentioning my posting and buy/sell subscription was about to expire where the link took me to two monthly subscription options for buy and sell, one of which was a more premium plan (called the "+" plan.
I did a search and apparently there appears to be these monthly plans on FM, which Fred had posted about them some time ago, so I assumed the PM I received was legit...even though I never, ever received word my subscription was about to expire in all these years since I have auto pay set up for Fm every 3 months.
Bottom line at the moment, I will ignore the PM and just monitor if anything with regards to my posting an FS ad or responding to one where something is being sold changes in the next few weeks when so called PM said my subscription is about to expire (even though 5 days ago it was renewed as usual). Maybe the PM was simply inadvertently sent. Time will tell ad if anything comes up, I'll be sure to add to this post. Thanks again!

I have never received a notification about my subscription was up for renewal either. That being said..let's see in 50 some days.
It is obvious you are aware of what could become a "problem". That is half the battle!

**** Well this is interesting!!!! I just tried putting up an item for sale and it said my upload and sell has expired. Guess this message is legitimate but I am still confused. All these many years I've been a member of FM, the only fee I had to pay was the once every three month "autopay" and its cost was nowhere near the amounts shown in the message above. I also never had ever received my upload and sell has expired. I am stumped as to why now did I receive this message after many many years and yet my once every 3 month autopay (which just occurred 6 days ago) took care of everything. Any thoughts?
