p.1 #1 · Laowa 8-15 fisheye blue ring at 8mm

I recently used this lens for the first time, and while at the circular 8mm, there is a blue ring around the edge. Has anyone else experienced this?

Example here- https://uadarthmaul.smugmug.com/Test

Martin shows it in his review of the lens on PR...

My understanding is it has to do with the shape of the edge of the rear element (or elements in this case, since the it has a cemented pair at the rear). Because the IC at 8mm is significantly smaller than the FF, you're also capturing rays that pass through that edge, creating the blue line. As you can see from Martin's samples, getting the full circle depends on the direction and strength of the light.

Interesting that you also captured some reflections from the rear of the lens housing. That I haven't seen, but I haven't looked too closely at other samples.

Ah, good. As long as it is normal for the lens, I am all good. Was just worried something was wrong with it.

Really fun lens so far. Got some wild pictures.

I think what you are referring to with the rear element might be poor editing on my part. I lifted the shadows, but it seems to lift beyond the circle, unless I lift them through a circular mask.

This is the result of my first 2 outings- https://uadarthmaul.smugmug.com/A-Different-Perspective

Yeah, your editing software won't know you only want to impact the IC without a mask. It looks great, though, and like a lot of fun.
