Terns and Black Skimmers share the same nesting area at Nickerson Beach along American Oystercatchers, Piping Plovers, and others. I spotted this black skimmer flying from a Tern's nest with the egg and don't know if it got an occupied egg or a discarded one. I've been visiting this nesting area for decades and this is the first time I've seen this.
Comments and suggestions welcome,
Morris

Intriguing shots Morris... if he found it occupied I'd think he'd be done with it and not bothered with the shell remnant, but who knows? Not sure if the shell has much remaining value for calcium or nesting material or what. Nice work.
