Bought a new M10 battery from B&H recently and popped it into the camera to see its charge percentage and the battery couldn't even power on the camera.
Did anyone else have a similar experience? My production code is 0625VB.

My 0625 battery worked fine, but I've heard of this happening in older batches. Sometimes you're able to get it going by leaving it on the charger, but other times one just has to exchange.

To be clear, the battery works fine now, but I'm slightly concerned about compromised longevity if it sat around at 0% for too long (and because I don't know if I can source new batteries 5 years from now).

I have charged every battery I have gooten from Leica before using it. I am still using my batteries that came with and that I bought with my first M 10 in 2017. They are still working great.

Is it too late for a return? It’s not good to leave a lithium ion battery at zero charge and it could have been like that for months as far as you know. It’s not cheap.

If the battery charges normally and holds power, it's probably fine. Lithium batteries can sometimes arrive at 0% if they've been stored a while. What really shortens battery life is constantly charging to 100% and letting it fully drain. It's best to keep it between 20 and 80 percent when possible.
