I had ran into the same problems a few times now. I used the USB-C cable to charge my M11p, and I left it charged overnight. The next morning, when I tried to use the camera, I found the battery was completely empty. I cannot take any shot. I tried to recharge the battery again, but it won't work. Finally, I have to take the battery out and charge it with the dedicated charger. Then it is fine again. My battery was able to hold charge for a long time. I was able to not use the camera for a couple weeks, and when I pick up the camera, it has at least 80% charge. I will never leave my camera on charge overnight again.
The in-camera charging for the M11 seems to be very particular for the cable and power source. The battery charger is not as finicky.
Did you try to charge your camera using the Leica-provided adapter and cable?

I definitely forgot to turn the camera off when charging, guilty as charged.
Glad to hear it wasn't anything serious with the camera...just a simple misunderstanding. I really appreciate these kinds of happy endings, especially when it involves the M11 series.

is one of the reasons because you're thinking of upgrading from your M10R
Seriously though, I was avoiding the M11P after my first one bricked at end of last year. Leica had to install a new board sent from Germany, and when I got it back, because I no longer trusted it (having had a Q3 previously brick), I sold it. Then in the last month I was getting an urge again for the M11P, so I reached out to the head tech at Leica NJ with whom I had become friendly. He said if I get a newer M11P with the latest firmware, that he honestly thought I would have no problems. So on his advice I got a new one directly from Leica (with a 5/2025 build date). Knock wood, but so far no problems, and I love the camera.
