Hi, just got the above camera & started shooting in a kit lens, the 28-70. I noticed that in auto mode, the pics come out a bit grainy which leads me to believe that in auto mode the ISO is also in auto mode. When switching to manual, I can control the
ISO down to 100 or less.
When I switch to a prime lens, the ISO pretty much is perfect to where I needed.
My question is: How to control ISO under Auto mode

I have found the ISO and shutter choices are not what I would tend to choose in Auto.
I think the next step you will want to try is aperture mode. Use auto ISO, but you can define the min and max allowed for auto ISO. I tend to use 100 and 6400. But you can push the max to 8,000 or 10,000 depending on your needs. Try 6400 and go from there. The next thing is go into "Auto Iso min SS" this intelligently sets the shutter speed while you are in auto iso. Set this up so it is accessible in the fn menu. You can setup so it adjusts shutter speed based on your lens focal length. The choices are slower, slow, std, fast, faster. Std uses the reciprocal speed, so if you are at 60mm, it will use 1/60s. each of the others changes by a stop. So slower = 1/15, slow = 1/30, std = 1/60, fast = 1/120, faster =1/250. Since the Rv is a high resolution sensor a faster shutter is helpful, I usually set this to fast. But if you are in low light and things are lot moving you can set this to slow or slower to get a better picture.
Setting this combination will choose a reasonable shutter speed for the lens and adjust ISO to get the exposure. When it gets dark, instead of letting it get super grainy it will start to slow the shutter speed. You can choose how much grain by the limit you put for the max iso.
Mark Galer makes some nice videos on setting up and using the camera. It does really need to be customized a bit, and this should be done after you understand what it can do and how it works.

I shoot mostly travel, street and landscape and primarily shoot in aperture priority for those situations. I map my C2 button to ISO min SS as described above. On a recent train trip, I used it to select a specific minimum shutter speed so that train movement wouldn't blur the photos . If your camera selects an ISO that introduces too much noise, you can always denoise in post.
I'm aware of how to change ISO in manual & how to change the ISO minimum & maximum ISO Values.
However, in AUTO mode, I can't figure out how to change ISO values. My camera picks the numbers for me. This is the part where I would like to know if it's possible to change ISO values in AUTO mode?

Try P mode instead of AUTO. I think it will start with the speed/aperture combination that the camera decides and I think you can control the ISO separately.

You can’t.
If you want to change iso, but have everything else auto then use “P” mode.
