Just noticed that on my Sony A7R5 the button to lock/unlock the Rear Dial R (often exposure compensation) is partially missing
Possibly the top section(?) has fallen/been knocked off, the white lower section is still there
Has anyone else had this issue? Is the top part of the locking switch available as a spare part?
It’s not that I used the lock function but if it did lock as a result of a bit missing that might be very awkward!
I use the dial for exposure compensation very frequently

I don't understand threads like this. Quite doubtful that anyone here has that spare part. Just send it in for service.
a) My camera is in constant use so “just send it in for service” is not an option
b) The cost of “just send it in for service” is also a consideration
c) I am not asking anyone specifically for a spare part, just information on similar experiences that may be available via this forum
d) Apologies to anyone else not understanding this thread, or similar requests for information, no offence intended

Zero experience with this, but given what you've said about servicing it:
It looks to me as if the white part that's seen in your photo is normally only seen from the side as a white band when the wheel is unlocked. I'm not sure how your missing black cap attaches to this, but it seems that the missing part, in addition to being cosmetic, provides some extra height to the button so it can be depressed after the wheel is locked, to unlock it. Without the cap, the button would need to be depressed below the surface to unlock the wheel. Some small object, smaller than the button diameter, would be needed to depress the button when the wheel is locked if that cap is absent. Otherwise the cap might possibly (unlikely) supply some water sealing. Bottom line is that if you don't use the locking function I think you could just leave it as-is. If you do use the locking function I think you could still lock it with a finger, but you'd need to carry something like the cut off small end of a chop stick to unlock the wheel after it's locked.
The above is my best guess and what I'd try (with a little risk) if it was my camera and I was in your situation. *YMMV*

Thanks, very logical and useful, by the way, ref servicing, I am currently touring Europe (France & Spain) for 3 months so servicing is not an option even when I return to the UK my travels continue…

Thanks, but that thread meandered off topic and was not at all useful (but original poster had exactly same problem as I have)

Thanks for the info, but I am being blocked from that website….
“Sorry, you have been blocked
You are unable to accessencompass.com”
I assume this is part due to my current location (Spain) and my ISP being in the UK
Sounded hopeful if they supply spare parts for the A7R5
Finally ??
I have contacted a UK repair establishment and the news was not good
Parts: £207
Labour: £260-£295
Plus delivery plus add VAT at 20% to total
Takes 7-14 working days (after quote raised on receipt of camera and excepted which can take another 5 working days)
- let’s say £615 and at worst 19 days away
According to them the entire top panel has to be replaced
